How to adjust the speed of linear actuator

2024-01-23

Linear actuators are machines that convert rotary motion into linear motion, which makes them valuable in a variety of applications, including machinery, robotics, and home automation. They come in different types, including electric actuators, motors, and tubular linear actuators, and are favored by many because of their accuracy and controllability. A common problem with linear actuators is to adjust their speed. At present, in order to facilitate user use and operation, a variety of speed control methods are generally set in the design of electric push rod products.

1. Within a certain range, when the load is fixed, we can reduce the operation speed of the linear actuators by reducing the input voltage of the push rod. However, if the reduction of the input voltage reaches the limit value, the current reaching the push rod will be limited and the linear actuators will stop working. Most push-rods will operate in the +/-10% range of rated input voltage.

2. The speed of the electric linear actuators can also be affected by the adjustable speed drive or variable frequency drive (vfd). These components control the speed of the motor by changing the frequency and voltage of the supply. With a frequency converter, you can achieve a wide speed range and maintain actuator torque and power output.

3. The third way to adjust the electric linear actuators is to accurately control by adjusting the number of threads per turn. The speed of the actuator can be controlled by increasing or decreasing the pitch of the thread or the lead screw.

4. Adding mechanical components such as pulleys and gears to the actuator's drive system can also adjust the speed of the linear actuator. Because by changing the transmission ratio, you can also change the speed output of the actuator.
